The five days of Frankfurt Book Fair 2013 concluded on 13 October 2013. The event attracted more than 7,300 exhibitors in total, from more than 100 countries
and over 2,76,000 visitors.
A visitor to the FBF, Rajnish Shirsat of Mumbai-based print
management firm, R&S Enterprises, said, "It is probably one of the biggest global gatherings of publishers with a diverse crowd from across the world." Shirsat felt that the quality showcased was impressive but the quantity was missing.
According to Shirsat, a general feel among all was that Europe is back in business. He added. "While it may be true for a few, it is far from the peak seen few years back."
Speaking about digital publishing, Shirsat, said, "The e-business seems to be gaining more and more traction with many booths showcasing their services and strengths. The centre of attraction was the overwhelming presence of the Canadian company Kobo showcasing their e-readers in one of the busiest halls at the Fair."
In terms of takeaway from the show, Shirsat said, "The publishing world is changing and it does appear that we are still in the transition but print is definitely here to stay for a long time."

Mumbai-based R&S Enterprises has ventured into the print market by offering solutions to the printing industry and provides business development and marketing services to corporate worldwide.
Rajnish Shirsat and Swapnali Haryan, who has vast experience in the print and publishing industry are at helm of affairs. Shirsat, CEO and head â€" strategy and business development,
R&S Enterprises said, "After China, India is the major print destination and there is increase in cost pressure faced by corporate in the business scenario."
He further added, "We aim to set high standards of customer service and key account management, raise the bar in production and operations to achieve cost saving results by focusing on the entire supply chain. We are initially targeting the book publishing market to start with."
R&S Enterprises aims to act as the bridge between the print buyer and the print seller suiting the project. The firm will help to map two points of need and capability and would
undertake the responsibility in execution too. Shirsat informed that, "Within seven months of our launch, we already have four printer empanelled with us and are in the process of adding few more."
Talking about the benefits derived by the empanelled printers, Shirsat said, "We help the printers to drive their growth in sales efficiently with their existing capabilities. We also hand-hold the printer in all key deliverables of performance till the final stage which includes the quality expected, execution standards to last mile customer service and can also avail export benefits from Government of India."
